Some Blogging Recognition and planning for Road Trip 2007

Its a classic lazy Saturday here in New Haven. Though I'm at SOM right now there are no pressing assignments due, no urgent matters stressing me out. I enjoyed a 6 mile run today on the treadmill, a feat that still irritates my knee a little bit, but a distance I like to run at least once a week nonetheless. Tonight is the spring formal which will be held at the Omni Hotel Downtown, an event I'm quite looking forward to and will be attending. And overall, the final week of school is creeping closer and closer, and so I try to treasure each day, have fun with the gang, and truly enjoy these last few days of New Haven before its off to DC to begin my internship.
Of course, with school ending around May 12th and the internship starting June 4th, I have a few weeks to kill. After debating various travel plans, my buddy
Paul and I came to the conclusion that simplicity is the order of the day, and so we've decided to stay on the continent and take a crazy US road trip, driving across the country in an inefficient but certainly robust route which will allow us to see a lot of America.
Stealing directly from Paul's blog (as I am a lazy man), here are the locations we will visit: We'll cover 21 states and DC in this trip - Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Washington.
So what will we see? A quick rundown of sights, big and small. The George Washington Bridge, The Garden State Parkway, Washington DC, Old Town Alexandria, PA Turnpike, Breezewood, Pittsburgh, CMU, Boulevard of the Allies, the mile-long GM plant at Lordstown, the crazy OH highway patrol, Chinese food in Cleveland, the steel mills in the Cuyahoga Valley (which we talked about in Employee class - Mittal Steel), Skyline Chili in Cincinnati maybe?, the red highways of Alabama (if they're still red), New Orleans, French Quarter, Garden District, Houston, Astros game, Austin, West Texas, most of Arizona and New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, maybe Canyon de Chelley, maybe Monument Valley, the Extraterrestrial Highway (at night!), Yosemite, San Francisco, Pacific Coast Highway, Mt. St. Helens, Seattle, In-N-Out burgers at some point, Jack in the Box at some point, Broadway perhaps, Pike Place Market, the original Starbucks, West Seattle. Good times!
The whole journey will take a little over 15 days and with any 2-person roadtrip I'm sure we'll get irritated with each other. But what an adventure it will be...
In other random news, I was very pleased to be nominated by and recognized as one of the Top 10 MBA Bloggers by Clearadmit.com As a prospective student I remember procrastinating at work and reading tons of MBA blogs, so I'm glad that I was able to add a little spice to the MBA Blogging community. Thanks to Clearadmit, other bloggers, readers, judges, and anybody who voted.
I'll end this brief entry with a few more photo remnants of last week's Welcome Weekend festivities. Happy Saturday everybody!
